My Approach
The ReGeneration Ecological Systems Theory
A culturally grounded framework for understanding how Black children grow within their unique social, cultural, and historical contexts.
My approach is grounded in my ReGeneration Ecological Systems Theory, which I developed to explain how Black children grow within social, cultural, and historical conditions that are not always shared across groups.
This model recognizes that a child's development is shaped by many connected environments—their home, school, community, cultural world, and the larger society around them. Because these layers interact with each other every day, I look at the whole picture: how a child learns, behaves, relates to others, and makes meaning of their experiences.
This approach allows me to understand not just the child in front of me, but the context they are growing up in. It helps me identify what is supporting them, what may be challenging them, and what kinds of strategies would make a difference. By seeing the full ecology of a child's life, I can offer guidance that is realistic, culturally grounded, and aligned with the realities Black children face.
This framework is an Africentric reinterpretation of Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory.
How I Work With Children & Families
I take a calm, clear, and supportive approach. I listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and focus on understanding YOUR child—their strengths, their challenges, and the environments shaping them.
Families can expect honesty, practical next steps, and explanations that make sense. My goal is always to make things easier, not overwhelming.
What I Look For When Working With a Client
When I get to know a client, I pay attention to the pieces that matter most for their development and well-being.
How they learn and process information
Family routines and relationships
Cultural identity and lived experience
Behavior patterns and emotional cues
School demands and environmental pressures
Together, these pieces help form a clear picture of what is supporting them and what may be creating barriers.
What Makes My Work Different
My approach brings psychology, culture, the true purpose of education, and real-world experience together in one place. I understand the specific realities Black children face and include those realities in how I interpret behavior and development.
I explain information in both plain and technical language, guide clients through confusing processes, and offer strategies that fit everyday life. I also share low-cost community resources whenever possible so families have practical tools they can actually use.
A key part of my work is supporting the self-development of everyone involved. Growth is not limited to the child; parents, caregivers, and other adults also benefit from understanding their own patterns, strengths, and areas for improvement. When adults commit to their own development, the entire environment around the child becomes more stable, clear, and supportive.
My Commitment to You
I am committed to helping families find clarity and confidence. Every child deserves adults who understand who they are and what they need, and every parent deserves support delivered with respect and care. I meet you where you are and walk with you toward solutions that truly fit your situation.
